Classic Sleepover Games That Never Get Old
Contents
Charades: The Ultimate Crowd Pleaser
This game saves every sleepover I’ve ever hosted. No prep needed, just pure entertainment.
How to play:
- Write down movies, songs, or phrases on paper
- Act them out without speaking
- Others guess what you’re performing
- Set a timer for extra pressure
Pro tip: Create themed categories like “Disney Movies” or “TikTok Dances” to match your crowd’s interests.
Truth or Dare: The Sleepover Classic
Warning – this one can get wild fast. I always set ground rules first.
My house rules:
- No dares that involve leaving the house
- Truth questions stay fun, not mean
- Everyone can pass once per round
- Physical dares must be safe
Keep some truth or dare cards handy when creativity runs dry.
Hide and Seek Gets a Makeover
Regular hide and seek works, but these versions are way more fun:
Sardines: One person hides, everyone else seeks. When you find the hider, you squeeze in with them. Last person searching becomes the next hider.
Flashlight Hide and Seek: Turn off all lights and use flashlights to seek. Way more dramatic and exciting.
Laugh-Until-Your-Stomach-Hurts Games
The Marshmallow Stuff Challenge
This messy game always delivers.
Setup:
- Get a bag of large marshmallows
- Prepare phrases to say
- Have napkins ready
Rules:
- Stuff marshmallows in your mouth one at a time
- Try saying the phrase clearly
- Others guess what you’re saying
- No swallowing until the round ends
Don’t Laugh Challenge
I borrowed this from YouTube, and it’s pure gold.
How it works:
- One person tries to make others laugh
- Use funny faces, jokes, or silly dances
- If you laugh, you’re out
- Last person standing wins
Games That Rule the Dark
Flashlight Tag: The Ultimate Night Game
You’ll need a good flashlight set for this one.
Game rules:
- One person is “it” with the flashlight
- Turn off all lights
- Tag people by shining light on them
- Tagged person becomes the new “it”
Glow Stick Hide and Seek
This game creates magic in the dark.
What you need:
- Glow sticks in different colors
- Dark room or basement
- Timer
Setup:
- One person hides glow sticks around the room
- Others search in the dark
- Find the most glow sticks to win
Murder in the Dark
Perfect for tweens and teens who want thrills.
How to play:
- Everyone draws cards (one murderer, one detective, rest are victims)

- Murderer taps victims who “die” dramatically
- Lights come on, detective solves the case
Chill-Out Creative Games
Story Building Circle
This always creates hilarious results.

The classic levitation game that freaks everyone out.
Important safety note: Only try this with mature kids who won’t panic or move suddenly.
